The Shelterbelt Theatre will hold auditions for Stuck with Lemons, written by Marie Amthor Schuett and directed by Dr. Amy Lane, on Sunday, October 20 and Monday, October 21, 2024. A co-production with Great Plains Theatre Commons, Stuck with Lemons will open the Shelterbelt Theatre’s 2025 (Ring 32) season. The show will run weekends from February 13, 2025 through March 2, 2025. Performances are Thursdays and Fridays at 7:00pm, Saturdays at 2:00pm, and Sundays at 6:00pm.
Six actors are needed, with descriptions provided below. Each actor will be paid a stipend of $800. Rehearsals are expected to begin around January 2, 2025, and are held on weeknights and the occasional weekend afternoon (4-5 days a week). Conflicts provided in advance can be accommodated, but no conflicts are allowed after February 5, 2025.
The auditions on October 20, 2024 will be held from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at the Shelterbelt Theatre’s new home in the Omar Baking Company Building, Suite 204, at 4383 Nicholas Street. Auditioners may park in the off-street lot on the north side of Nicholas and follow the signage to the east door of the Omar Building to reach Suite 204.
The auditions on October 21, 2024, will be held from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at Yates Illuminates, 3260 Davenport Street. Street parking is available near the building.
If needed, callbacks by invitation will be held at the Shelterbelt on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
PLAY SYNOPSIS
Emma and Cate are expecting their firstborn. When they make the announcement to Emma’s conservative Midwestern family, the Lemons must face the trauma of tradition and the struggle of growing up and going forward.
AUDITION PROTOCOL
Auditioners should sign up for an audition slot on the attached google form. Please arrive 15 minutes before the slotted time and bring a list of any conflicts you have between January 2 and February 5, 2025. A resume with information on prior acting experience is welcome but not required.
Actors should be prepared to read from the sides provided below with a scene reader who will read from the casting table. Actors may choose to read more than one scene if they wish to read for multiple characters. The Shelterbelt encourages performers of all races and ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to audition.
